NIRF Rankings 2020 – Top Government Management Institutes

The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) has released the NIRF Rankings 2020 for Management category. The list includes the top 75 b-schools in the country across the private and public sector. Out of the 75 top management institutes listed in NIRF Management Rankings 2020, 32 are government b-schools, while remaining 43 are private b-schools. The top position in the government category is occupied by IIM Ahmedabad; in the previous edition of NIRF Rankings 2020 for Management category, it was ranked second and IIM Bangalore was ranked number 2. In NIRF Management Rankings 2020 for Government category, second and third positions went to IIM Bangalore and IIM Calcutta. NIRF Rankings 2020 of Government Management Colleges – Key Highlights

1. A total of 75 management institutes are listed in NIRF Rankings 2020 under Management Category. The list includes both government and private b-schools.
2. How many government b-schools are ranked in NIRF Management Rankings 2020: There are 32 government management institutes inside the top 75 list; the rest are private colleges.
3. Top ranked government b-school: IIM Ahmedabad is the top ranked government management school in the country; it is also ranked first in the overall category. In the last edition, it was ranked 2, while IIM Bangalore was the top institute. 
4. Top five government management colleges: IIM Ahmedabad – 1, IIM Bangalore – 2, IIM Calcutta – 3, IIM Lucknow – 4, IIT Kharagpur – 5
5. Eight of Top 10 b-schools in NIRF rankings are government institutes: Government management schools occupy 1 to 8 positions. Remaining two positions are occupied by XLRI-Xavier School of Management, Jamshedpur and Management Development Institute, Gurgaon at 9 and 10 positions; both are private institutes.
6. States with maximum number of top government b-schools: Uttar Pradesh – 4, Tamil Nadu – 4, Delhi – 4, Maharashtra – 3, Jharkhand – 2, Karnataka – 2, Madhya Pradesh – 2, Uttarakhand – 2, West Bengal – 2
7. Fourteen IIMs inside Top 75: NIRF Rankings 2020 for Management Category included 14 Indian Indian Institutes of Management. Last year, there were 13 institutes inside the top 75.
8. Seven IITs make the list: Among the 32 government institutes that made the NIRF Rankings 2020 for Management Category, there were 7 IITs. In the last edition also there were 7 IITs, so the number remains the same.
9. IIM Shillong top b-school in the NE: It is ranked 30th overall and 21st in state category
10. Participation in NIRF Rankings is voluntary.
