XAT selection process 2021 – There will be no centralized XAT 2021 selection process that will be conducted by the exam conducting body. Instead participating institutes of XAT 2021 will conduct the selection process independently after the declaration of XAT 2021 results, tentatively around February – March 2021. The XAT 2021 selection process will be conducted in offline mode and comprise Personal Interview (PI) and Group Discussion(GD)/Written Aptitude Test (WAT). Institutes will shortlist candidates for the selection process based on their percentile scores in XAT 2021. Shortlisted candidates have to attend the selection process in person at the designated venue. Final selection will be based on XAT 2021 percentile and performance in – GD, WAT, and PI.

XAT 2021 selection process
The XAT selection process 2021 would include the following steps:
- Taking the XAT exam:
The candidate can register for XAT 2021 through the official website – xatonline.in; registrations will open in online mode tentatively in the 3rd week of August. The XAT 2021 exam will be conducted in online mode around January 3, 2020.
- Declaration of XAT 2021 results:
The result of XAT 2021 would be released in the form of score cards which can be downloaded from the official website by entering one’s registration number and password. The XAT 2021 score card would contain details like: XAT ID, section-wise percentage, section-wise percentile, total percentage, and total percentile.
- Preparation of institute-wise merit lists
The XLRI and other XAMI member institutes will prepare institute-wise merit lists of candidates based on XAT percentiles. The list of applicants will be drawn from the programme list selected by the candidate at the time of filling the XAT 2021 application form.
The merit list would be used to shortlist candidates for subsequent rounds of XAT 2021 section process.
- Selection round
The selection round of XAT 2021 would be conducted in offline mode, sometime around February or March, at the following four locations:
- Bangalore
- Delhi
- Mumbai
- Jamshedpur
The selection round of XAT 2021 would include the following rounds:
- Group Discussion (GD) – The GD is the first phase of the selection process, wherein the candidate will be placed in a group of 7-8 candidates. The GD will evaluate how efficiently the candidate manages to put across their points cogently, convincingly, and in an articulate manner within the given time limit and without being overawed by the situation. The GD also is a good way to judge whether the candidate is being able to grasp what other candidates are saying and whether he/she is able to counter or support that argument, or maybe provide further insights. The Writing Aptitude Test (WAT) may or may not be part of the selection process, but candidates need to stay prepared. The WAT will check the candidate’s writing skills, command over the language and grammar, and how well-read one is.
- Personal Interview (PI) – The PI is the last stage of the selection process. During the PI, the candidate may be asked any question from the subject and even outside of it. The PI measures the fitness of the candidate for the course. Also, note what questions are asked may depend entirely on the people taking the interview. For example, if they feel that the candidate has in-depth knowledge of the subject, but lacks in, say, the ability to articulate them, they may take note of that.
- Final selection
The final selection of candidates will be based on both the merit rank of the candidate (which will be prepared using XT 2021 scores) and performance in the selection round.
